Understanding Parkinson's

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological disorder affecting nearly 1 million people in the U.S. and over 10 million worldwide.

While best known for its physical symptoms—such as tremors, stiffness, and slowed movement—Parkinson’s also has a profound impact on emotional and cognitive well-being.

Parkinson’s & Mental Health Support
Parkinson’s disease affects more than just movement—it can also impact emotional and mental well-being.

Up to 50% of people with Parkinson’s experience depression, and nearly 40% struggle with anxiety. Many also face changes in behavior, memory problems, and difficulty with focus, planning, and decision-making. These symptoms can affect independence, relationships, and quality of life.

At Anderson Counselworks we offer specialized psychotherapy for individuals with Parkinson’s. Our care is tailored to address emotional, behavioral, and cognitive challenges in a supportive, compassionate environment.

Caregiver Support Matters Too
Caring for someone with Parkinson’s can be emotionally and physically exhausting. Caregivers often deal with stress, burnout, and feelings of isolation. Common signs of burnout include fatigue, anxiety, irritability, and even depression.

We provide counseling and support for caregivers to help manage stress, set healthy boundaries, and prioritize self-care. Supporting caregivers is essential to supporting the whole care journey.
